invite

Hello Dearest Friends, Family, and Fans -

As many of you may know I traveled to Tokyo in late June to pursue a documentary project on Japan's post 3.11 Tsunami and Nuclear Catastrophes. My project involved asking strangers (via translated message on paper) to write down how they felt about the Nuclear Crisis and to pose with their answer for a portrait. I've collected a series of portraits connecting statements to Japanese people living in a toxic state. I would like to invite your attention to two opportunities to view this intimate work.

By the suggestion of a few of you, I am planning a slideshow presentation of my visit in full at the new Museum of Monterey
(the old Maritime museum at the brick Plaza) in Monterey, CA on Tuesday August 9, at 6:45. This will be a great opportunity to ask questions and open the community discussion on the very important topic of Nuclear Energy and give you a chance to see many of the other unpublished photographs from my trip. I am also planning on continuing the Portrait Project by setting up a photo booth where you can voice your opinion (on paper) in a portrait.

The Monterey County WEEKLY will also be publishing the Photo Essay that will be released August 4 (my 26th birthday)
with special online extras like Audio interviews and Photos that were not out in print. I am really excited about this story, the WEEKLY has been very supportive and I consider it gift to be recommended for my second WEEKLY COVER STORY on my Birthday!

The support of my Community is what makes my work as an artist important. Thanks for the Fuel Friends!

With Loving Gratitude,

MAGDALENA
